How to: Create custom reports

EmployeeFileBuilder comes with a wide variety of reports, and graphs that let you create very specific reports. It also uses Crystal Reports v4.5 for its reporting engine. Therefore, if you have Crystal Reports v4.5 (or purchase it for approximately $199 from most software retailers), you can create reports or graphs and add them to the report menu long side of our standard reports. This gives you the advantage of using the program's security to protect the sensitive information such reports might contain. If using Crystal Reports v4.5, be sure you install the 16-bit version.

An alternative to custom reporting is the EmployeeFileBuilder "Custom Views" feature. This allows you to select and sort specific fields and display the records in a spreadsheet-style layout. You can resize the columns, print the custom view, keep the layout on file to run later, or "paste" the data into a spreadsheet like Microsoft Excel. The custom views allow you to make changes to the data directly, offering a fast way to spot check and correct errors that might occur during data entry.
